20 million tourists to Thailand by next year. I definitely think that that would be a good thing. The reason I am mentioning this, I was reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Prayut predicts tourism will be 50% restored by next year. Quoting directly: "Thailand can expect to welcome 20 million tourists next year or about half the pre-pandemic level, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday. That projection is likely to materialize provided the COVID-19 situation doesn't deteriorate again and no new threats to tourism appear on the horizon, he said. Tens of thousands of tourists are arriving in the Kingdom daily and the situation has improved markedly since entry restrictions were eased, General Prayut noted."

Yeah I couldn't agree more. I don't know what the numbers will be. Definitely it is noticeable now on the streets here in Thailand, down at the beach; I was in Jomthien, up here in Bangkok, there are tourists, they are around and it is definitely good to see them back. They are around in numbers; you are starting to really notice them and hopefully we are going to see more folks getting into Thailand, staying in Thailand, having a good time out here and helping revive the economy, beleaguered economy quite frankly. 

So yeah is the Prime Minister being overly optimistic? Maybe, but I would like to see more optimism then pessimism at this point and definitely 20 million tourists between now and this time next year is a great number to aim for. Personally, as a person who has lived here through all this, as a Thai, I couldn't agree more or I should say I couldn't want it more. 20 million tourists to Thailand at this point would be great.
