As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the EEC versus the BOI here in Thailand. What are these two things? 

Well the EEC is relatively new; this is the Eastern Economic Corridor. This comprises the three provinces of Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong. As we have discussed in many other videos, the EEC is a major innovation here in Thailand. We are seeing it become something of an entrepôt for business including the tech business here in Thailand and there are certain explicit benefits that may accrue to a company that's doing business within the EEC, albeit you do have to apply for certain concessions including tax concessions, Work Permit concessions, possibly even land ownership depending on the circumstances. Meanwhile, BOI is very similar but it does not pertain exclusively to those three provinces. So again Board of Investment, Board of Investment concessions, can include again tax holidays, things like Work Permit concessions, even again foreign land ownership concessions depending on the circumstances and depending on the activity of the given business. 

That being said, those who are looking into this and comparing the two, there can be differences between the types of benefits that are sought between those two entities. So those who feel a little bit overwhelmed or don't quite know what they don't know, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
