Could Thailand Become "The Silicon Valley of Asia"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question could Thailand become the "Silicon Valley of Asia". I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Bangkok urged to woo business tourists. Quoting directly: "Bangkok should be turned into the Silicon Valley of Asia, a hub for technology companies, startups and Industry conferences. Developing this status would not only drive Thailand's economy, but also help improve tourism, attracting more foreign investors, business employees and leisure travels."
Yeah, I think that is a great idea. As we have discussed in many other videos, the Eastern Economic Corridor may be a place, a location that may operate in furtherance of this goal where the Eastern Economic Corridor there is a lot of business concessions that may be garnered down there. For those who are unaware, that Corridor encompasses Chonburi, Chachoengsao and Rayong provinces here in Thailand and includes the port facilities. They are also building a number of new infrastructure facilities in that area along with rail links into the various airports here in Thailand so long-term, the EEC could really turn out to be something of a major benefit in terms of the business sector here in Thailand. And I think it would be a great thing if we could see tech companies coming to Thailand and either branching out here, having a subsidiary office here in Thailand, or new startups gaining foothold here in Thailand for other business throughout Asia. I mean all of those are good developments and honestly based on the infrastructure and the pro-business environment here in Thailand, I think Thailand is an optimal jurisdiction for certain tech companies looking to do business not only in Southeast Asia but greater Asia as well.
