Differing Rules Regarding Thai Bank Accounts?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing banking here in Thailand. Apologies if I am a little bit sweaty; I am getting over something of a cold, I don't know if it is the flu, whatever but yeah just kind of bear with me if you will.
In any event, yeah banking here in Thailand. I have this question all the time from expats, they are like "hey why is it like one bank will do things one way and other banks will do things another way?" Look it's much like Immigration wherein different offices have different ways of doing things; different banks just have different ways of doing things. I know that this is very frustrating especially for outsiders and foreigners and I also know it is very frustrating because these rules change from time to time so you get used to certain protocols when you are doing banking, then you show up one day and they say "oh now we need XYZ instead of ABC!" Yes it is very frustrating but it is kind of the nature of the beast. Banks have the ability, essentially the right to refuse service to folks and on top of that, they have the right to set their own protocols with regard to how they will facilitate their banking functions for their customers. So unfortunately it is just kind of one of these things that you just have to grin and sort of bear it when you are dealing with banking here in the Kingdom.
Now that said, we do provide a lot of assistance for foreigners especially, with regard to banking and although it is not strictly speaking I guess you would say legal work, it is definitely something that we believe we add value for people because banking can just be kind of a frustrating experience and we hope we can provide sort of a smooth path to getting what one needs done, done in the Banking System.
