How Long Does It Take to Set Up a Thai Amity Treaty Company?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing timelines associated with the US-Thai Treaty of Amity specifically incorporation of a business in Thailand and certification under the terms of the Treaty. How long is that going to take?

Let me preface the rest of this video by saying there are two things to look at here. There is Treaty Certification and incorporation and then, and I think most folks are more interested in this, there is Work Permit and Business Visa associated with that business. So to be clear, generally speaking we usually see incorporation and Amity certification done in about 4 to 6 weeks. This past year, this past 14 months, that has slowed down a little bit but not due to any real issues having to do with the actual process, it has mostly been due to the Government's response to COVID and a lot of the Government closures associated therewith. Long story short, usually a month a month and a half we can see that getting done.

Now depending on the circumstances, if it is a single foreign national or multiple foreign nationals looking to work in Thailand using a Company, that can take some time longer. Again that will depend on circumstances. It is probably a good idea to contact a legal professional as the specific facts of the case are going to drive the analysis regarding the time frame for Work Permit and Visa Authorization. But generally speaking, just for the incorporation, the certification, usually about 4 to 6 weeks and we are usually able to see that certified and then the Company can go ahead and start at least preliminarily conducting business here the Kingdom of Thailand.
