How Much Does It Cost To Set Up A Thai Business?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, “how much does it cost to set up a Thai Business?” Well the answer to that, I probably sound like a broken record to long-term viewers, but yeah it is going to very much depend on many factors in a given case.

Let's drop a few things off at the forefront of this video which is you have got to decide, okay what does it cost to set up a Thai Business? The answer to that is very different depending on if you are a foreigner or if you are a Thai. If you are a Thai the cost is basically nothing. You can essentially do that depending on how you set up; sole proprietorship for example A Thai can basically get a business going in an instant. They don't need to worry about work authorization, tax ID numbers, corporate entities etc. Foreigners on the other hand do. Foreigners looking to do business in Thailand really do need to look toward some sort of corporate entity and then you need to look toward issues associated with possibly the Foreign Business Act which then takes you into the analysis of is there something to the US-Thai Treaty of Amity. If I am an American, I might get Amity certified and be able to do business and my company can be owned 100% by an American. If I am another nationality, it may be possible to get other types of concessions or it may have to operate in line with the provisions of the Foreign Business Act.

But long story short and the thing to take away from this video and understand is it is going to be different for different people; it is also going to be very different depending on the prospective business activity. So again, setting up a food and beverage business, setting up a little restaurant, very different analysis than "hey, I want to come to Thailand and engage it mining services or something of this nature." Again, different business activities are going to be governed very differently depending on relevant Thai Law and the protocols associated with foreigners doing business here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
