Major Shift in SWIFT: "Coexistence Period Ending"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the SWIFT system. This is the banking protocol associated primarily with the Western banking system. Effectively it's, I would look at it as the infrastructure if you will of the Bretton Woods system and we are seeing it evolving in real time.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from swift.com, the article is titled: ISO 20022 for Financial Institutions: Focus on payments instructions. Quoting directly: "With the coexistence period ending on 22 November 2025, Swift is committed to supporting the community’s migration to this key milestone. Start preparing for ISO 20022 adoption today to ensure your organization stays ahead."
Effectively what we are seeing, it is my understanding is it is kind of another step towards CBDC effectively wherein this digital protocol, it's sort of like the analog system is sort of like being phased out. I don't wish to be unnecessarily vague, but I have to be honest with you, I am getting to the outer edges of my personal understanding on how all this banking stuff works but I know that this is a major issue. This is a major protocol change occurring 22 November, 2025 wherein afterward I think we're much more on a track away from analog, basically cash type transactions, traditional transactions we are sort of used to, over to a more digital type of a system.
Now as we have seen here in Thailand with freezing bank accounts, as well as this Orwellian stuff associated with biometrics, including face scanning associated with one's own banking, on top of the fact that we have seen millions of bank accounts in places like Vietnam, what was it, 86 million bank accounts were closed in Vietnam just at the stroke of a pen. There is a lot going on in the international banking system and we are seeing it shift in real time, in many ways that are going to have substantial impacts on foreigners in the future, in the banking system, in the financial sector; I expect this will probably have tax ramifications long-term. Again these are major changes occurring within Swift.
Now exactly how this has other ramifications in systems that aren't SWIFT, for example the mBridge system, the Yuan based international system, the CIP system, C-I-P-S I believe it's called. Again will that cause people to use these alternative things more, less, same amount, no effect remains to be seen? That being said, we will certainly be keeping people updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
