As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the setup of an Amity Treaty Company here in Thailand. So again, folks ask me all the time - like timing, what are we looking at? It is going to be fact dependent, very much. Amity Treaty Certification, for those who are unaware, the US-Thai Treaty of Amity allows American citizens and American businesses to gain "National Treatment" when they do business here in Thailand meaning they will be treated as if they are a Thai Company notwithstanding the provisions of the Foreign Business Act. This means that Americans and American Corporations can own their business entity in Thailand 100%. They do not need a 49/51 set up for example, or any other type of special Foreign Business License or Foreign Business Certificate. Amity Certification gets them into compliance with relevant Thai law for the vast majority of businesses that one would want to engage in here in Thailand. Again, there are still restrictions. For those who need some information on that, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional and gain some insight and guidance. 

That being said, as far as timing and how long it takes, again it depends on the underlying business activity but yeah you are looking at weeks; it is going to take some time, it is not going to happen overnight. These company setups, it is not anything akin to an LLC setup - you can just go online to a computer, set up a company and boom it is done - there are a number of formalities associated with Thai Company set up. So again, you are going to be looking at weeks, maybe a month, maybe a little more, somewhere in there to go ahead and get everything set up with regard to a corporation with Amity Treaty Certification. 

Now again, depending on the underlying facts in your given case, you may be able to start working on preliminary things associated with setting up your business but again, for those who want detailed analysis on how all this is going to work in practice, probably a good idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
