Opportunities for Thai Amity Treaty Companies in the EEC?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Eastern Economic Corridor as well as the US Thai Treaty of Amity. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Thailand Business News, that is thailand-business-news.com, the article is titled: Thailand wants more U.S. investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Quoting directly: "Thailand is seeking to attract more U.S. investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), particularly its renewable energy, digital economy and smart electronic sectors.” Quoting further: “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai affirmed this intention at a reception hosted by the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council and U.S. Chamber of Commerce to honor the Thai delegation during the 77th United Nations General assembly (UNGA) in New York." Interesting.

If you are looking to do business in the EEC, I have to say there are substantial benefits to the Eastern Economic Corridor, quite substantial actually. The more that you look at the actual enabling Act, the geography of it, the resources that are there, not to mention the substantial amount of investment the Thai Government has made with respect to infrastructure investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor.

Meanwhile, something for Americans to think about is the US-Thai Treaty of Amity could confer benefits concurrently as well. EEC benefits and the Amity Treaty are not mutually exclusive. It may be possible to have Amity Treaty Certification and operate in the EEC and gain benefits therein as well. Most notably with the US-Thai Treaty of Amity is it does provide so-called national treatment under the terms of the Treaty to businesses doing business in Thailand unlike other nationals here in Thailand that are doing Business, notwithstanding the Foreign Business Act, American companies certified under the Treaty are treated as if they are Thai companies. There also maybe tax implications and benefits associated with that or even possibly exemptions associated with that. I made other videos on that topic before but yeah the sort of combination of the EEC and the US-Thai Treaty of Amity for Americans looking to do business in this part of the world it's kind of one of those "two great tastes that taste great together" kind of situation.
