Raising the Withdrawal Limit on a Thai ATM Card?
Transcript of the above video:
I know there's a lot of folks out there talking about the fact it is harder to get Bank Accounts right now. I know banking is a real issue for foreigners here in Thailand, but I thought of making this video to talk to people that might already have a Bank Account because one major issue that folks have here is getting the ATM limit raised on their debit card, on their ATM card that they might utilize here.
For those who are unaware, most banks have a 20,000 Baht max withdrawal limit per day on a Thai ATM card. It is possible to raise that. In the past, you actually had to go in physically to the Bank Branch to do that but now it is possible to do it via the machine, you can do it via the machine. Now I was just in the other day at a bank, SCB actually, Siam Commercial Bank, tip of the hat to you folks, the gal that was taking care of me in there was super nice notwithstanding the fact I was very frustrated; it was rather difficulty deal with this thing because I had lost my ATM card, I had to get a new one, I had to get the withdrawal limit up. She tried to show me how to do it on the machine; it wasn't really working very well. Ultimately, we worked it out. I got my new ATM card and moved on down the road.
Long story short, yes, it is possible to raise your limit. You may have to go physically into the Bank Branch to do that - any Bank Branch on a personal account should be able to do that - again it depends on Bank policy. At least with SCB, in theory, you should be able to change the withdrawal limit via an ATM using your card itself. But we were trying to do that, it didn't really work so well, so I ended up getting it fixed by the lady in the banking office itself.
That being said, those are basically the two ways to deal with raising the withdrawal limit on your ATM card here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
