Restricted Occupations Under the US-Thai Treaty of Amity?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing specifically the US-Thai Treaty of Amity. For those who are unaware, it may be possible for an American citizen or an American corporation to come to Thailand and do business in Thailand very much like a Thai would; that means 100% American ownership pursuant to the terms of the US-Thai Treaty of Amity and I have made a number of videos regarding that overall topic over the years here. I urge those who are really interested in that maybe go check the search function or go to the resources section at legal.co.th, type in Amity, you are going to find a number of videos along with transcripts on that site to that information.

That said, I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on our channel, quoting directly: "Is there a list anywhere of the Thai reserved exceptions to the Treaty?" So sort of what they are saying is the exceptions, the occupational exceptions under the Treaty. Yeah there are actually listed within the Treaty a number of exceptions that are not covered by it so that means that notwithstanding the fact that you may be an American business, you may not be able to get Amity Certification and therefore be able to operate in unfettered manner because the Foreign Business Act may still preclude it. Most notably things like landownership, land trading, Inland transport, inland communication, things associated with National Security may not be possible under the Treaty of Amity. Also issues associated with professions may also be restricted under the terms of the Treaty and an American may not be able to engage in some of those things notwithstanding the overall benefits that are generally provided to Americans looking to do business here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
