As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the BOI, that's the Board of Investment in Thailand. BOI is basically a type of, how do I put this? Basically it is designed to encourage certain types of foreign business activity in Thailand with the thinking that importing expertise, importing technology and technological advantages is a benefit to Thailand. So in the overall perspective, BOI is quite a beneficial organization for the purposes of greater Thailand, Thailand as a whole. It is a good idea to encourage foreign business to come to Thailand. 

Now depending on timing, there are different types of businesses, I hesitate to take to use this terminology but I think is appropriate, there are different types of businesses that may be en vogue at a given moment and BOI may be, while they have a whole list of things that they may be wanting to promote, some businesses may be more of a priority or business activities may be more of a priority than others depending on timing. 

Meanwhile, applications can be a little bit cumbersome. I mean they require a great deal of documentation, supporting documentation as well as information about the applicant and the applicant Corporation. There are also financial requirements that often times have to be met in order to gain BOI concession and BOI has a lot of discretion with which to utilize when granting concessions here in Thailand. For example things like foreign ownership, concessions regarding work authorization, concessions regarding tax; there are a lot of tax holiday benefits which may be associated with BOI so a successful BOI application can result in substantial benefits to a foreign business looking to operate here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
