Thai Police Raids "Enforcing The Foreign Business Act"?

Transcript of the above video:

Along the continuing theme of heightened scrutiny by Thai Law enforcement on the issue of nominees and compliance with the Foreign Business Act here in Thailand, we have seen a number - I have made a number videos on this - Phuket seems to be one of the epicenters where this is really acutely sort of playing out.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Phuket Immigration joins illegal business raids. Quoting directly: "Phuket Immigration has confirmed its role in the raid on the Octopus restaurant in Cherng Talay last week, and confirmed that a second raid has been conducted at ST Accounting in Chalong." Quoting further: "The raids were conducted with the intent of enforcing the Foreign Business Act with special focus on illegal use of nominees, Phuket Immigration explained."

So I think this is pretty important to look at because this is Phuket Immigration Police primarily and if you go even further in that article, they do say "DSI (which is sort of the equivalent of the FBI), Phuket Immigration Provincial Police, Phuket Provincial Tourism and Sports Office and the Phuket Tourist Police" were all involved in this. So this was not a sort of minor thing and as noted in that article, and I urge those watching this video to go check that out. They do say that this accounting firm was previously raided and there's been another raid and they are continuing to scrutinize these corporations and folks involved with them to ascertain whether or not nominees are being used and also to ascertain whether or not they are being utilized to create doc fakes, specifically fake documentation pertaining to Immigration and Work Authorization.

So again this is pretty serious stuff. I'm not really trying to make all these videos to be a downer or anything but it is a pretty big sea change in terms of Immigration enforcement here in Thailand especially when you look at the fact that they are really scrutinizing whether or not folks are utilizing corporate structures basically nefariously to gain Visa benefits, work authorization that is undue. So again it remains to be seen exactly how this will play out. As I have said in other videos, I think that this is a major turning point in terms of law enforcement here in Thailand, so we will definitely keep you updated on this channel as this situation evolves.
