VAT, Thai Companies, and Corporate Addresses

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai VAT, that is Value-added Tax Certification, Corporate Addresses and Thai Companies. More to the point, although a Company may have VAT without needing a Work Permit, for the foreign nationals out there who are looking to set up a Thai Company in order to maintain a Business Visa and Work Permit and also to operate a business, it is not strictly just to get those things, but in order to do business in Thailand, you need to have the Work Permit and the Visa so they become rather imperative for those looking to work here.

The thing to take away from this video is, VAT might end up being an integral part of getting your Work Permit. In fact in many cases it is a prerequisite to being able to get a Work Permit and a Visa and a part of VAT, one big issue with VAT, is the Corporate Address. You may be domiciling your Company in a place where the Revenue Department will not issue a VAT Certificate for that address and that can cause a lot of frustration; it can also cause situations where you can't ultimately get your Work Permit and your Visa issued. So for this reason, it is important to understand VAT and the notion of the Corporate Domicile.

We provide a number of solutions to our clients and we tailor them to their specific needs with respect to Corporate Addresses here in Bangkok as well as in greater Thailand. We assist in trying to find them a proper place to domicile to ensure that it meets all the necessary formalities associated with things like Tax Certification and Work Permit and Business Visa status. So this being stated, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional regarding these matters, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
