As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing foreign ownership of Thai Companies. Now first of all bear in mind, foreign ownership of companies has to be in line with what is called the Foreign Business Act here in Thailand, and I have made a number of videos on the Foreign Business Act. We have also made videos on what is called the US-Thai Treaty of Amity, so always remember that American citizens and American businesses can do business notwithstanding the Foreign Business Act. It may be possible for Americans to own their businesses 100% outright here in Thailand and that is a major benefit as other nationalities don't really have that same privilege. 

But this is going to be a more broad-based video. What are the benefits for a foreigner owning a Thai Company? Well obviously, you can do business in Thailand through your company. I am not really talking about that, I am more talking about the ancillary benefits in terms of Business Visas and Work Permits. If one wants to set up an SME, a small to medium sized enterprise here in Thailand, a company can act as a vehicle for maintaining one's Work Permits and Visa status. Eventually if the Company is prosperous and you are operating here in Thailand for a prolonged period of time, it may also be possible to apply for Permanent Residence here in Thailand and if you are here long enough you may be able to apply for citizenship. 

So again, depending on circumstances, this could be a substantial boon to a foreign national looking to come and live in Thailand long term or do business here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
