"Retiree Expats" Targeted in Thai Tax ID Banking Scam?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing retiree expats who are somehow being victimized or are subjects of a scam regarding Tax ID numbers and Banking here in Thailand.

Let me preface this by saying this is one of the primary reasons I find foreigners coming into Thailand and explicitly operating in contravention, criminally, of the restricted occupation, this is why I find them so pernicious because it leads to further cons and frauds as a result of their underlying fraudulent behaviour.

What are we talking about? Quoting directly from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya retirees targeted in latest in scam calls scandal. Quoting directly: "Two British retiree expats have sounded the alarm about the latest fraud to try and empty their Thai Bank accounts. They told Pattaya Mail they separately received phone calls claiming to be from the Thai Revenue Department informing them that they may not need to register for a TIN, (Tax Identification Number) provided routine checks are made now to ensure their exemption." Yeah, this is just sad. Now and I urge those who are watching this video, read that article. They get into it and they say that these folks that were the subject of this, didn't go along with it. They realized what was happening and basically disengaged from the correspondence.

But again, and I can't stress this enough, this is what happens when foreign Interlopers who have no business talking about Thai Tax Policy come in here and start spouting off, illegally. It leads to these problems because a scammer sees one scammer scamming, and they say hey I have got another take on that scam, and now I'm going to victimize some people too. This is the problem. Hopefully this will be solved sooner rather than later.
