As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Big Joke yet again. Big Joke comes up oftentimes when I am going through all the news and sort of little factoids out there in the Ether that is the internet especially surrounding Thailand and legal issues, law enforcement, criminal law. 

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that's bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Major arrest opens Pandora's Box of crimes. Quoting directly: "In an interview with the Bangkok post, Pol Gen Surachate Police General Surachate," (that is Surachate ‘Big Joke’ Hakparn,) "Pol Gen Surachate said that from what police have discovered during the investigation, organized crime involving Chinese gangs poses a serious threat and must be dealt with swiftly." Then they go on to explain in the article that there has been this massive investigation, it seems to surround surrogacy; I've got a video brewing on surrogacy, I'm not quite ready to do it yet. There are a lot of legal issues that go into surrogacy, we discussed it in the past, it's pretty controversial here in Thailand so I want to do a properly parsed out video, I don't just kind of want to come at it you know on the fly. But yeah, there has been this massive investigation that they have been undertaking. I urge those who are watching this video, again go check out that article, Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Major arrest opens Pandora's Box of crimes. Quoting directly: "But the investigation did not end there because Pol Gen Surachate ordered police to run background checks on the parties involved. The more police delved into, (I'm going to say name redacted here), the more irregularities emerged, and she became the suspected mastermind of a criminal ring that runs an illegal surrogacy business and fraudulently obtains identification documents for illegal aliens, said Police General Surachate." 

I am doing another video contemporaneously with this one where we discuss the possible implications of all of this going down and how it may have implications in Thai Immigration, sort of that space. With regard to this, I think what you can take away from this video, and what you can take away from this article is Thailand law enforcement is not messing around and especially with foreign gangs of any stripe. Thai Immigration, is just not interested, excuse me, Thai Police, Thai Law enforcement. Surachate Hakparn is now the Deputy National Police Chief here in Thailand, he was once the Head of Thai Immigration and we have done videos on this channel, it has been sort of an interesting ride for him but he now is the Deputy National Police Chief and is still seemingly just as proactive as he ever was in Immigration with respect to clamping down on crime and perceives threats to, I believe what he perceives to be threats to the National Security of Thailand in the form of some of this organized crime stuff. 

So it is very interesting what is going on here and it is worth noting because look suffice it to say, Thai Police Officials are taking a far more proactive approach to law enforcement than perhaps was once the case here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
