BREAKING: Foreigner "Arrested in Thailand" on FBI "Child Exploitation Charges"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, well it doesn't suggest it's actually kind of a breaking story. I'm actually doing this video within about minutes of reading about it. I believe that the citation I'm going to get into has been up for just a couple of hours, and the photo we're using in the thumb, the photo credit below in the link, will take you to a Khao Sod story that apparently came out within the last 24 hours, but I came upon This actually via Thai.News, that's THAI.NEWS, the article is titled: FBI Fugitive Paul Negri Arrested in Thailand for Child Exploitation Charges. Quoting directly: "In a chilling twist worthy of a crime thriller, a 57-year-old American living in the quaint town of Nakhon Ratchasima," - also referred to as Korat here in Thailand - Thailand, found himself cornered by Thai Immigration Officers. The alleged pedophile, known as Negri," - and we need to remember, all allegations, people are innocent until proven guilty, talk about an American context as well as a Thai context even though the adjudicatory systems for criminal liability are different in both jurisdictions. Remember there is still 'innocent until proven guilty’ here in Thailand as well. Of all of this remains allegations. - Quoting further: "The alleged pedophile known as Negri whose presence had slipped under the radar for far too long, was discovered following a protracted Visa overstay. Not just any overstayer, Negri had more pressing issues awaiting him back in the States where he's a prime suspect on the FBI's most wanted list due to costly charges tied to child exploitation and the despicable distribution of child pornography across state borders in Georgia. The arrest - a painstakingly choreographed affair by the dedicated officials of the Immigration Bureau's Investigation Division 4" - let's repeat that again for the record. So this is Thai Immigration Bureau's investigation division 4, tip of the hat to you folks - quoting further: "was the culmination of an intense search, sparked by a tip-off from a diligent undercover informant. Negri had been lurking in the Nong Bua Sala area and had managed, until now, to escape the long arm of the law. However, the tenacious officers were hot on the trail of this elusive character, ultimately intercepting him on a sleepy bypass road. When confronted, the flustered Negri spun a tall tale, claiming his passport was in transit to the US Embassy for renewal. However, his story lacked credibility as he failed to present any concrete proof of his legal stay. As the authorities whisked him off to the Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration Office, the barren truth came to light - his Visa had long expired, cementing his unlawful status in Thailand."
So, to be clear, they found this person; he hadn’t renewed his visa in years; claimed his passport was being renewed at the Embassy. None of that was true; this person was on overstay. So simply for the overstay alone, this person would be immediately deportable but purely on the overstay alone, if caught in Thailand, this person would be just purely on the overstay, under these circumstances, blacklisted for a minimum of five years. I expect based on the charges and things, Thailand is probably going to I expect it is highly likely Thailand will put an even longer possible ban on this person, especially if convicted. Quoting further: "In light of this discovery, the Thai Authorities acted swiftly, liaising with the US Embassy and the FBI to unearth Negri's shadowy history. This move revealed the disturbing truth. Negri is subject to an outstanding arrest warrant in Georgia for heinous child exploitation offenses and child pornography production. With his unlawful presence and sinister past now bare, Negri faces deportation back to the United States where a legal storm is set to commence, igniting the fervor of the American Justice System. This high-profile apprehension echoes a resounding message across the region: Thailand stands firm against foreign lawbreakers and is unwavering in its mission to enforce Immigration Laws strictly and swiftly." And yes, as it pertains to children as those who have been avid watchers of this channel know, even from the most recently published video prior to this one, I'm putting this one up presumably at 7:45 p.m. after the 3:45 p.m. showing if you will because I think it's important to point this out. The Thai jurisdiction, Thailand, is not interested in any of this, in any way and they're taking it seriously even if things that are seemingly innocuous. Like as we discussed in a prior video, the issue of work authorization and the issue with these illegal daycares and things. Thailand really does not in any way like anything associated with child exploitation, obviously who does, but again sort of these illegal daycares could be a concern to law enforcement as well because again they are these opaque nexus points wherein children are at; you don't exactly know who is who; there are foreign children; there are multiple parents. I'm sure it's probably innocuous at the end of the day, but I do understand the argument by law enforcement that's says hey, we want to know what's going on here especially as it pertains to children and as we can also see from this video, and needs to be pointed out again, and again, and I reiterate, I urge those who are watching this video, go check out THAI.NEW, the website is thai.news, www.thai.news and the title of the video is: FBI Fugitive Paul Negri arrested in Thailand for Child Exploitation Charges. Again I urge those who are watching this video go check that out.
But yeah, at the end of the day, I think it's worth noting that Thailand is making it clear in taking into account, this isn't a partisan issue; this isn't an economic issue; this isn't an anything issue; this isn't a political issue. This is a Law Enforcement issue, and this is an objective issue of moral good and evil in my opinion and Thailand is taking a clear stance with regard to this and hopefully we won't see any of this further because this will act as a deterrent for folks in the future who think, hey I'll go to Thailand. Yeah, how about think about somewhere else, anywhere else, so for that I'm hoping that occurs and we won't hear about this in the future. That being said, as with all matters pertaining to Law Enforcement news and legal matters here in Thailand, we will certainly try to keep you updated on it channel as the situation evolves.
