Foreigner with 74 Warrants "Arrested by Immigration Police" in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well we are discussing the arrest of what is being described in the citation as sort of a Bond-like villain - that's why for the thumbnail I used a photo of this hacker that gets arrested in the first couple of scenes of the movie Swordfish with Hugh Jackman and John Travolta. Kind of an underrated movie; kind of one of those movies that has gotten overlooked over the years but a pretty solid film overall. Again it had a lot of, just the sort of cloak and dagger of it, in a kind of a modern way I liked it but the hacker who gets arrested, there's this great scene involving Don Cheadle acting as, I think he is an FBI agent or DEA or something, and then he basically throws the guy's lawyer out of the conference room; it's kind of funny scene but yeah that was the reason for it is when I saw this guy, the way he was described, especially with 74 warrants for hacking, computer hacking. This is probably, the citation where I found this photo for the thumb is kind of an interesting little blog about that movie and comparing it to like real life hackers and no, they're not, I think he compared him to being dressed as - it wasn't somebody from like the Matrix, but it was something like off the runway or something. That's not how they really dress; it would be more like t-shirts and shorts or jeans or something.

That said, quoting directly from a recent article in the Thai Examiner, that's thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: German online Bond villain arrested by Immigration Police at luxury condo in Bangkok for hacking crimes. Quoting directly: "German hacker, 26, arrested in Bangkok luxury condo in Watthana after 74 EU warrants for cyber extortion, ransomware and Global DDoS-for-hire attacks, ending a multi-country manhunt across Dubai, China and Thailand with extradition now pending." Quoting further: "A young German hacker who designed and executed exploits to extort companies and launch crippling DDoS attacks was arrested by Thai Police on Friday. His arrest followed a request from the German Federal Security Service, which had obtained no fewer than 74 warrants for the online terrorist. The 26-year-old, identified as (I'm going to leave names redacted, to make the video) had lived in Dubai and China before moving to Bangkok to evade arrest. The young man lived like a Bond villain, using his hacking skills to attack firms nationwide. That ended Friday when Immigration Bureau Officers detained him." Again, lived like a Bond villain. Like was he like stroking a cat like when they walked in to arrest him? I mean you see the photos in the article; I mean it's a guy that's good on the computer. He looks about like you would expect a guy that is good on the computer to look, and again, that is kind of the reason for the thumbnail because the glamorization I guess of hacking or something, it's never quite been on par. I've known people over the years that are great with computers, true whiz kids, hackers or otherwise, I don't know how you would call them. There was a time when that name had a whole other implication, but I digress. Most of them are not dressed up like these sort of Bond villain type characters, so I don't know where that's coming from.

But that said, yeah Thai Immigration and Thai Law Enforcement is now heavily integrated with both Interpol as well as with the PIBICS system, the Advanced Passenger Processing System, as well as biometric functioning systems, they're all in place and they can track and trace all of these foreign nationals that are looking to engage in what can only be described as less than sort of licit affairs here in Thailand. It's much easier to track these people down and they are finding that law enforcement here in Thailand is just as assiduous and proactive if not more so than their counterparts in other countries. I'm sure this person is probably going to be deported, likely blacklisted, effectively for life. No idea what the outcome will be. I mean 74 warrants. I can't imagine that's going to be consolidated easily.

That said, I don't know if we will be keeping track of this story. Frankly this person will probably be processed out fairly quickly and sent off to whatever jurisdiction initially filed a request for their extradition. That being said, if there is something further to report as it pertains to local Thai news, we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
