Foreigner Arrested When He "Tried To Fight The" Thai Police?

Transcript of the above video:

Kind of one of these 'Foreigners behaving badly' badly videos. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Foreigner arrested for drunken rampage in Patong. Quoting directly: "Officers from Patong Police had to use force to arrest a drunk foreigner causing a public nuisance on Thaweewong Road on Tuesday (May 14) morning. A report regarding the incident was published late on Friday, (May 17) specifically noting that Officers acted according to Police protocols. At around 2:30am on Tuesday (May 14), Patong Police Station was alerted by the public that a tourist in a state of intoxication was causing a nuisance to citizens and tourists in the area of Loma Circle. Eight Police Officers led by Capt. Sanit Aiyasuwan, arrived at the scene and tried to persuade the foreign man to calm down. Apparently the man "could not control his emotions and tried to fight the officers," Patong Police reported. Officers used force to apprehend the foreign man and take him to Patong Police Station to sober up and face charges of being drunk etc." Quoting further: "In apprehending the man, Officers followed the principles of arrest tactics for the safety of responding personnel," the police report stated. "If left unattended, the man could have caused danger to the life and property of others," Patong Police Station explained.

Look, long story short, look we have all had things happen in Thailand where we have maybe had too much to drink and we have done things that we weren't exactly proud. But I don't know what is going on in the West, but some of these foreigners are coming over here and just literally losing their minds. I don't know exactly what's going on there. I really do think, I almost feel bad for most of these folks because I think it is a byproduct of all the craziness that has gone down in the West - worldwide for that matter, - over the course of the last roughly five years and maybe this is manifesting itself in this type of behaviour on the part of these Westerners when they come to a place that does have a certain level of freedom and a certain level of "live and let live attitude" as opposed to what can only be described as an increasingly Orwellian system in other parts of the world.

That being said, look at the end of the day, to quote The Big Lebowski, "this is not Nam, this is bowling. There are a rules." Well this is Thailand and there are rules and if you get drunk and go out on a "rampage", you are going to have to deal with the Thai Police and the Thai Police have been trained to use force correctly to go ahead and deal with that matter. So it is something to think about. I expect that this person probably will be processed through; they'll have the matter adjudicated and perhaps a deportation is in the offing.
