Seven "Foreign Nationals Have Been Arrested for Overstaying" in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing overstaying foreigners yet again here in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is  bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Seven Visa overstayers arrested in Phuket. Quoting directly: "Seven foreign nationals have been arrested for overstaying their visas during a crackdown on foreigners staying illegally on this resort island." Quoting further: "Immigration Officers conducted random Visa inspections at locations," that's key: "random Visa inspections at locations where foreigners expected of Visa infractions were known to stay."

So first of all, as I've discussed in other videos Thai Immigration authorities especially are taking Immigration violations increasingly as a matter of law enforcement and less of the sort of administrative paradigm that they have had in the past. They have also increased their resources in terms of manpower and technology, so they do have the ability to much more effectively target and ascertain and apprehend those who are overstaying here in the Kingdom. Quoting further: "The officers arrested seven foreign men: one Pakistani, two Egyptians, three Nigerians and one Myanmar national." Quoting further: "The fine for a Visa overstay is 500 Baht per day to a maximum of 20,000 baht. An overstay exceeding 90 days will also result in the person being banned for a period of not less than a year." As we have discussed in other videos. Also note, if you are found on overstay and arrested and apprehended in Thailand i.e. you haven't been found to be on overstay at an Immigration checkpoint but they have arrested you here in the Kingdom - even if it's a day of overstay - that's an automatic five year blacklisting, five year ban, from being able to return to the Kingdom.

So those who are watching this video, it's a good thing to keep in mind, maintain your Visa status assiduously so as to avoid not only being deported, having to go through that whole procedure, but also being banned from returning to the Kingdom of Thailand.
