Thai Police Target Unlicensed Cannabis Vendors?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Cannabis yet again. This is going to be a slightly different type of video. We have been talking about the evolution of the law as it has been coming online but there now are practical implications as there is a regulatory framework in place for licensing associated with so-called controlled Herd in Thailand which is essentially the kind of legal euphemism for Cannabis in Thailand. It is a controlled Herb License, that is the License one needs in order to legally sell Cannabis in Thailand.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Unlicensed bud vendors collared. Quoting directly and I urge those who are watching this video, if you are interested in this topic read this article in detail, there is a lot of good information in there. Quoting directly: "Officials from the Ministry of Public Health teamed up with police to arrest," arrest, "six vendors in the Thong Lor area of Watthana district for allegedly selling Cannabis buds and flowers without permission. Dr Thongchai Lertwilairattanapong, Chief of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM), said the raid was conducted on Tuesday night along Thong Lor Road by the health authorities and police from Thong Lor station." Quoting further: "The inspection team found that five owners of food trucks and one shop owner sold cannabis buds without a License. Three of the food trucks even had a fake permit because a License is issued to shops with permanent addresses only." Something to bear in mind with respect to the trucks out there.

As noted again, I will quote that again: "a license is issued to shops with permanent addresses only." A piece of insight in there to understand things of this nature but again bear this in mind, yes Cannabis is being legalized, regularized, normalized. I hate to use the term decriminalized, it is much more of a Common Law term of art. It doesn't quite apply in a Civil Law context the way that I think a lot of common law people think it does. Suffice it to say we are going through a transition period where we are still seeing the regulatory structure being actually sort of infrastructure, being put into place so we can deal with this but understand it clearly is illegal to sell these products without the License, the Controlled Herb License so those who are doing that need to be very, very careful, in fact they need to stop or they themselves could find themselves arrested as well. Those out there who are worried about this just have a look, make sure that you are dealing with somebody that has their Controlled Herb License already issued to them here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
