Thailand Takes Further Steps Toward Marijuana Legalization

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Marijuana or Cannabis here in Thailand.

There is a lot going on in this space. The regulatory structure here in Thailand is changing substantially especially as the law is changing. In a recent article from, titled: Thai Public Health Minister Sets Up Weed Committee to Spread the Word About Marijuana. Quoting directly: Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health is following through with his manifesto pledge made last year to allow people to grow marijuana.  With changes in the law made in recent days to remove the drug from the level 5 narcotics list, the process has taken another step. Now Anutin Charnvirakul has signed off on another order creating a 34 person mobile committee that will advise the people on the complexities of what they can and can't do”. This will be interesting. Hopefully we will keep you updated on this channel.

Long story short, a lot going on in Cannabis and Marijuana over here or Cannabis and/or Marijuana however you want to refer to it. To be clear it is not recreationally legal and there are no moves as of the time of this video to make it recreationally legal. This is all happening in a medicinal context.

I would say the way to look at this is something akin to, if we were looking at it from an American analogy it is something akin to the FDA allowing a new drug or certifying or approving a new drug or some sort of drug regimen if you will. The long story short is I think this is going to happen in baby steps.

We will be making further videos on this channel especially as and when we get more clarity as this mobile committee goes around and provides further clarification on how this is going to work as a practical matter. We will keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
