Chinese "Speed Up Relocation" to Thai Condos?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Chinese relocating to Thailand specifically to Thai Condos. What are we talking about here? I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Mainland buyers seek quick move amid zero-Covid fears. Quoting directly and I urge those who are watching this video, a really insightful article from the Bangkok Post. I thought it was very interesting, I am going to quote a small except here but I urge those watching the video, go check out that article for more detail. Quoting directly: "Ready to move in condos in Thailand are attracting Chinese buyers as the majority of them want to speed up relocation to the country due to concerns over the future of Beijing's zero-Covid policy." If you get further in that article and we have seen this before, but if you get further in that article, you will see that yeah, there does seem to be pretty hot demand among the Chinese for condos here in Thailand for a variety of different reasons. Most notably I imagine it is a pretty solid investment to place capital that is outside the jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China, so I can see circumstances where it might be purely from an investment standpoint, an offshore investment standpoint but something that is in real estate and real estate is a little bit more tangible when compared to other types of assets out there. The other thing to remember again is Thailand, for those who are unaware, Thailand does allow foreign nationals to own condos in Freehold, with what we would call in the Common Law something akin to fee Simple Absolute or Freehold title as I believe they call it in Australia and that kind of area, that kind of area, the Common Law, Commonwealth tradition but Freehold title; you can own the condo 100% as opposed to real estate, land and things in Thailand which again are restricted from ownership by non-Thai nationals.

So again, interesting developments. Do I think that the Chinese are just going to overrun the condo market? Hard to say. I think it is doubtful but they are certainly at least according to the statistics prior to COVID and what we are kind of seeing trickling out here in these opening weeks of 2023, it looks very likely that they may be major buyers in the Thai Condo market in the coming months and years.
