4am Closing Time for Entertainment Venues in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing entertainment zones, entertainment venues and closing times here in Thailand. The reason I thought of making this video, I was reading recent article in the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Opening hours for entertainment venues to be revised. Quoting directly: "The Tourism and Sports Minister is planning to propose new opening hours for entertainment venues, allowing them to open until 4am to revitalize tourism sentiment during the upcoming high season." Quoting further: "Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Rathchakitprakarn said the extended hours will be designated to tourism-driven economic zones to avoid creating discontent among local communities." Okay.

Yeah, I think this would probably be a good idea. I think a lot of entertainment venues would probably be very happy to see this as any more leeway they can get to get some more tourist dollars, get some more revenue in I think would be very much welcome. Whether or not this comes to fruition remains to be seen. We have seen Mr. Phiphat, the Tourism and Sports Minister, make a lot of proposals, especially over the past couple of years with varying degrees of success. Some of them have come to fruition, some of them have not; it is kind of the par for the course in any kind of political situation. So if this comes to pass, it remains to be seen.

That said I think it is a positive initiative overall because look and I can't stress this enough, I know I kind of beat a dead horse this topic, truly, the Tourism Sector has suffered tremendously over the past couple of years. It really almost is not quantifiable. To use the term 'decimated’, I have used it many times because that's what the statistics said back in January, it is not too much of a stretch. I mean it has really, really been hurt. Anything that we can do here in Thailand in my opinion to improve the Tourism Sector, within reason obviously, I think would definitely be a good thing so hopefully we will see something like this on the horizon sooner rather than later.
