For those who are longer time viewers of this channel, you will be familiar with “Big Joke”. We're talking about Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn. He first came on my radar personally and on this channel if you will’s radar some, it's been a while now, it’s going back into 2017-2018, so 7-8 years ago that he first sort of caught my attention and it has been sort of an interesting ride watching his career, his story arc if you will progress since that time. 

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Surachate says he's called ‘victim’ of police chief witch-hunt. This is an interesting story. I'm going to quote some excerpts here. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out this article in the Bangkok Post if you like I have been keeping track of a Big Joke and his various exploits throughout the years. Quoting directly: "Former Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakparn on Tuesday petitioned the House committee on national strategy and reforms to investigate National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kitthirath Punpetch for alleged misconduct and abuse of power. The petition, accepted by Committee Chairman Rangsiman Rome, claimed that Pol. Gen. Kitthirath acted unlawfully and in bad faith when he ordered a disciplinary probe in April this year to look into a Chulalongkorn University law exam scandal. Pol. Gen. Surachate said that the investigation falsely named him as a suspect in a criminal case despite the police chief being fully aware that he was never charged in connection with the alleged theft of exam papers.”

Yeah, so it's some sort of, if you read the article and you are kind of aware of the background, this all started when they were targeting doing a probe for something else, and then it brought up this ,I don't know what you'd call it, sort of B story or sort of side issue if you will of these exam papers and something having to do with a Law exam. So that said, again I urge you to read the article by Bangkok Post. Quoting further: “Even though this was later corrected, the damage was done to his reputation, and he had already filed a defamation lawsuit with the Criminal Court, he said. He claimed that the probe against him was an attempt to block his possible return to the Police Force.” I actually followed this pretty closely and we did videos on it at the time. He went through a due process procedure that is internal to the Thai Police Force which basically resulted in him being dismissed from the Police Force. I am trying to say that in as neutral language as I can, but ultimately, he was no longer on the Police Force following this process. Quoting further: “He added that he has now filed two criminal defamation lawsuits against Pol. Gen. Kitthirath and plans to take the case to the corruption and misconduct court.”

So as we have noted in other videos, I mean Big Joke is, you can't say the man is not tenacious. He's definitely a tenacious guy and we saw this when he first came again on the scene in Thai Immigration where he was really unlike any Head of Immigration that I had seen up to that point, and by that time I had been around going on 10 years and based on anecdotal evidence that I have gathered from folks I've talked to who were around far longer than me, they even were sort of, most of the time folks like that are kind of laid back, and even they were like, "wow this guy is serious.” He has proven to be tenacious. He has also proven to be a heck of a survivor insofar as he was once removed from the Police Force only to return. What I have to say about “Big Joke” is never count him out. The minute you think that he's not going to be in the foreground anymore, he seems to pop up again. Again, this is another case in point with respect to this. Rather interesting.

I mean it's kind of a colourful set of circumstances where all of this is coming about in connection with something akin to stolen exam papers or yeah effective exam papers but interesting. Hard to say how this is exactly going to play out. That being said, we will certainly be keeping people updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
