"Bill To Clarify Some Ambiguous Details" On Cannabis In Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Cannabis, specifically Cannabis Regulation here in Thailand. In the aftermath of the recent coalition creation that will bring in the new Government here in Thailand there has been a lot of discussion regarding the further regulation of Cannabis. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: What Thailand expats can expect from the new Government, quoting directly: "The most obvious consequence of the latest power alignment in Bangkok is excellent news for the marijuana industry and its thousands of retail outlets throughout the country. The total delisting of the drug as a narcotic in 2022 was a flagship achievement of the Bhumjaithai Party which is (as usual) a vital component of the new coalition. During the recent election, Phue Thai had voiced concerns about the weed and threatened to return it to narcotic status. Nothing more will be heard of that. Instead, the new Administration will introduce a Bill to clarify some ambiguous details such as business registration procedures, Cannabis cafes and permissible marketing strategies. Pot smokers can rest easy, at any rate in private."

So yeah, as discussed in prior videos with the formation of the new Government as we have discussed going back in the 2022, this has been kind of an interesting subject to watch at least from the standpoint of legislative process because it was pulled off the narcotic list and then due to some kind of kerfuffle within Parliament, they were unable to actually pass regulations before the Parliament closed. Now that things look geared up to reopen it seems logical that will probably see especially in light of the new coalition we will likely see new regulations promulgated within that Parliament by dint of an actual Act being passed by Parliament. Now what that looks like remains to be seen, I have heard a number of different things.

Long story short as discussed previously, foreigners should be very, very careful in this area because again it is agricultural; it is a very sensitive area with regard to the Thais. I think that this was definitely created as a benefit to Thai people, to provide jobs and business opportunities for Thai people, locals not outsiders. The other thing to bear in mind is there likely will come down a number of regulations and laws associated with foreign products as well as import/export as well as rules and regulations regarding how where and when and under what circumstances these types of operations can be run. As of the time of this video a new law remains to be seen but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
