BREAKING: Alcohol Can Be Sold on Buddhist Holidays in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, apparently it looks like we may see - and I stress may - as I will get to at the end of this video, may see a change in the rules here in Thailand with regard to alcohol and alcohol sales on Buddhist holidays.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Thailand proposes limited alcohol sales on Buddhist holidays. Quoting directly: Thailand is preparing to allow limited sales of alcohol on Buddhist holidays to cater to tourists, the latest step in a campaign to attract more overseas visitors. The Cabinet on Tuesday approved sales of alcoholic beverages on five major Buddhist holidays at a handful of venues: international airports, nightlife establishments, hotels, tourists venues and sites of national events. The change could take effect as soon as Makha Bucha Day on May 11, Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong told reporters. Thailand is already one of Asia's top destination thanks, to its famed beaches, lively night life and status as the only country in Asia that has decriminalized Cannabis." - No, it has legalized Cannabis! Stop using that word Bangkok Post. We've gone over this in how many videos, okay? It was legalized. Now you may not like how it happened and it was sort of an unorthodox way wherein it resulted in being legal, but that's how it is; it's not decriminalized, that's a nonsense word. That said, quoting further: "But tourists seeking respite from the tropical heat with a cold drink are often surprised to find bars shuttered on religious holidays."

Yeah that has been an odd discrepancy which I'll get into it another video. That being said, quoting further, and this is a key point to make. This is being proposed; it's made it through a major hurdle and now it's basically on track to being the law or to the rule changing I should say, or probably better put, to seeing the rule change, is the correct sort of legal vernacular terminology from sort of an American legal vernacular. That being said, again it is a pretty big deal; it seems like it's pretty likely that this is going to occur but that said, quoting further: "The proposal approved by the Cabinet on Tuesday is subject to public hearings for 15 days, after which it would then go to the Minister of Health for Certification - and on to the Prime Minister for approval.

So again it's got a few more steps but it's looking like this is probably going to be the way things are going to change with regard to alcohol sales here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
