Foreign Business "Investment Pledges Rise 35%" In Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the fact that it looks like Foreign Direct Investment in Thailand is on the rise. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Investing.com, that is investing.com, the article is titled: Thailand investment pledges rise 35% to $12.7 billion in H1, Government says. Quoting directly: "Thailand saw investment pledges rise 35% in the first half of this year to 458 billion Baht ($12.68 billion) the Board of Investment said Thursday." So that's the Thai Board of Investment. Generally speaking they are kind of tasked with encouraging and kind of monitoring foreign investment in Thailand as well as the Thai Business Community. Quoting further: "Investments were coming into the electronics, electrical appliances and auto and auto parts sector, the Board said, the biggest coming from firms from Singapore, China and Hong Kong." So yeah, I think that's generally good news overall. As noted in prior videos, some of the major possible policy changes not coming into effect I think actually resulted in further investor confidence moving forward here in Thailand in the future.

The thing to bear in mind, foreign nationals looking to do business here in Thailand may be able to avail themselves of certain concessions granted by both the Board of Investment as well as the Eastern Economic Corridor Authority. On top of that, American firms may find themselves benefiting from what is called the US-Thai Treaty of Amity; setting up under the provisions of that and the "national treatment" accorded to American companies looking to do business here in Thailand.

Long story short though, and I think one thing that is abundantly clear from the information contained in that article is that foreign direct investment here in Thailand is on the rise and generally speaking I think that is a good thing.
