Government Measures Improve Business, Says Government
Transcript of the above video:
If I seem a little more effusive in this video than I usually am, you are right, I am. I spend a lot of time, frankly when I'm just not working on cases and that's a ton of my time, but when I am doing the research to make these videos and it's frankly less time I think than people think so I am not going to be hyperbolic about it but I have to do some research and I keep track of things involving Thai Immigration, US Immigration anyway, but everyone once in a while I will be scouring through just reams of digitized paper if you will on topics for anything from Thai Visas, US Visas, Property, Business Visas, Corporations, Corporate Law, that kind of stuff. Mostly pretty dry material but every now and again you find a little nugget and I found this one in a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that it bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Business registrations climb to 10-year high. That is the headline and I really urge those who are watching this video go check out that article in detail because the thrust of it is totally different to what we are getting into in this video. It has got some interesting data points in there for those who are looking to possibly do business in Thailand. It is a good article but this little excerpt just made me smile. Quoting directly: "Government measures to improve the economy and support entrepreneurs may have contributed to the increase in business registrations according to the Business Development Department." So bear in mind, the Business Development Department is a branch of the Government here in Thailand. They are under the Ministry of Commerce, so that's the Government. So let's just read this again, okay. "Government measures to improve the economy and support entrepreneurs may have contributed to the increase in business registrations according to the Business Development Department." So you could just say "according to the Government" at the end of the day.
When I first thought of making this video I almost wanted to sort of preface it with like "not the onion" because it just kind of made me giggle. I am not putting down the Government in any way, shape or form, that is actually not my purpose here. It was just one of those sentences that I looked at and I said, "so things are doing better in business because of Government action, says Government!" And it's just one of those where I suspect this is registrations are up now because oh I don't know, for the past few months we have been allowed to do business and haven't been stuck with lockdown and being told by the Government that we can't do business. That might have had something to do with it too. Just throwing it out there, just spit balling. I don't know, but long story short you are not reading that headline wrong. I saw that excerpt and I thought of making this video, so there you go.
