As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possibility of a new International Airport in Thailand namely in Hua Hin. I thought of making this after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Airport in Hua Hin to be expanded. Quoting directly: "The Department of Airports (DOA) is planning to upgrade Hua Hin Airport into an International Airport to boost tourism. The Airport wants to serve international flights and to do so, it needs to improve safety around the airport by building additional infrastructure. The safe zone around the airport will also be improved to meet International Civil Aviation Organization standards. Currently Hua Hin Airport handles about 30,000 private jets a year so it has the potential to grow." 

Again, we have discussed this in many other videos on this channel. Thailand's air infrastructure is quite substantial. There are a number of really top-notch airports in Thailand and quite honestly one of the easiest ways to domestically travel in Thailand is by air. If you come to Thailand and you want to hop up to Chiang Mai, it is pretty darn fast, hop down to Phuket pretty darn fast; an hour, an hour and a half and you are there. It is pretty nice once you are in the Kingdom to travel around, especially by air but I do think it is a positive development. Hua Hin is very, very popular among especially Scandinavians who enjoy coming to Hua Hin. I could see where an International Airport in Hua Hin would be very, very popular not only amongst retirees but just general vacationers. We have also seen over the years how the International Airport in Phuket has had a tremendous positive impact on that location; just having ready access to an international market for that tourism location in and of itself has brought Phuket a lot of benefit. Hopefully, we will see the same thing with respect to Hua Hin when the airport opens in that City in the future.
