I am still working on getting the Integrity News Service up and I will be doing more of these type of videos over there where I'm talking about what we are doing down at Pancake Palace. For those who are unaware, my better half and I set up a restaurant here in downtown Bangkok called Pancake Palace. As the name implies, breakfast anytime including most notably pancakes, but we also have American Diner style food, and we are open in the evenings. Again, breakfast anytime, but we've also got hamburgers, cheeseburgers; we've got glass bottled coke. We've got buffalo wings, we've got chilli bowls, we've now got tacos. I was initially going to call this the midweek movie on Taco Tuesdays but as we have tacos all day long, all week long now, it's not necessarily a special thing that it's on Tuesday. But again this video obviously is something of a plug for our place Pancake Palace, but we are also going to be doing what I'm calling the midweek movie which will just sort of be on in the background for folks who are interested in watching it. 

This week we are going to be watching the Distinguished Gentleman, as the thumbnail implies. This movie I would describe as something as a combination between Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and The Golden Child, another Eddie Murphy movie. Eddie Murphy stars in this. In my opinion it is actually one of his best movies. I would actually put it up there in his top three frankly, along with Beverly Hills Cop 1. You could argue Beverly Hills Cop 2 is in the top three as well, but he's got some other great films. Again The Golden Child is out there to name but a few. I mean Eddie Murphy has just been in so many amazing things: 48 hours, Another 48 hours, the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. 

But Distinguished Gentleman is something a little bit different and it's one of these movies that I think to an extent the Establishment, while they don't necessarily want to censor it as they are probably afraid of something akin to the Streisand Effect, there are certain films that it just seems like they just kind of stop talking about as time goes on and I would put the Distinguished Gentleman in that category. As funny as the movie is, and it has a lot of really great moments where it pokes fun at Washington DC. etc., it's a little bit dated for folks that watch it that are younger, ten years younger than me it's probably going to seem very dated because again there are no cell phones or anything in the movie. But it's really '90s. I mean it's not like black and white or something. But it is one of these movies though that hits some salient points right on the head. More than anything, it's just sort of the I think the overall paradigm it just sort of conveys that there is corruption in D.C. but there are also good people trying to do things and just overall I really like it as a film.

We're going to be down here for our mid-week dinner, midweek movie dinner if you will; dinner and a movie down here in Pancake Palace.
