A New Rail Hub in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

Pretty big news in this video as the title suggests. We are talking about a new railway Hub in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Nation that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Krung Thep Aphiwat begins first full day. Quoting directly: "Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in Bangkok, (formerly Bangsue Grand Station) began its first full day as Thailand's National Rail Hub on Friday after 52 long distance services were transferred from the century-old Hua Lamphong Station. The new 34 billion Baht Bangkok terminus in Chatuchak district is now the hub for all long distance trains running to the north, north east and south of the country. Only 14 long distance services to the East are still using Hua Lamphong." And it will sort of be interesting to see how long that remains. It's my understanding that Hua Lamphong is set to be sort of renovated, turned into sort of, I don't know exactly, it is sort of like, I don't think it's a mall but it is sort of like a centre, sort of Communal Center something like this, but the former Bang Sue station which is now being called Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal is going to become the main terminal it seems for all railway going through Thailand in the future. I think that transition, a major part of that has already occurred.

This is big news in the sense that Thailand has built up a great deal of infrastructure surrounding rail, high speed rail is coming; airport rail links that have been set up and on top of that light rail which has substantially connected the outer edges and the inner areas of the Bangkok Metropolitan area and it does appear that this is also going to link into the Eastern Economic Corridor in the long term. This is all major positive news with respect to not only the ability to travel into Thailand as well as travel throughout Thailand. It is also a major news with respect to logistics insofar as it is going to streamline the process of transporting goods across the country and to other countries here in the region and presumably it is going to connect things up to wider rail systems throughout the region so that Thailand can see more efficiency and can kind of be somewhat at the centre if you will of rail transport throughout Southeast Asia. It is going to be really interesting to watch this. These are definitely positive developments for Thailand and we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
