"PM To Encourage US Investors To Invest More In Thailand"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the PM encouraging US Investors to invest more in Thailand.

For those who are unaware by the way, Americans have a major benefit in being able to do business in Thailand insofar as we have what is called the US-Thai Treaty of Amity. Under the provisions of said Treaty, Americans can be upon certification of a given business entity, American interests can be granted what is called 'national treatment' meaning they would be treated as if they were Thai for purposes of doing business here in Thailand. So notwithstanding for example the Foreign Business Act here in Thailand which requires for example in many cases 51% Thai ownership, 49% American or otherwise foreign ownership, if a given business is certified pursuant to the terms of the Treaty, it is possible for that business to be 100% American owned. So that is something to bear in mind; it is a major benefit for those looking to do business here in the Kingdom.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article in the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Srettha to talk tourism on China trip. Quoting directly: "When he attends the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly," (which I believe is happening as of the time of this video) "(USGA 78) in New York City, Mr. Srettha will have the opportunity to meet US President Joe Biden, US Trade Representatives and major US companies, said Mr. Chai. That will come as a good chance for the PM to encourage US Investors to invest more in Thailand, said the Spokesman." And that was the Spokesman talking.

So, interesting that there is encouragement now happening at least at a bilateral level, at a very high diplomatic level, to encourage more American Business here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
