Should Thailand "Subscribe" To The International Criminal Court?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are talking about the International Criminal Court. Now what is that? Well about what it sounds like. It is the International Criminal Court where oftentimes it is political folks, people operating in the political arena that end up committing or getting accused of things like war crimes and things, they go to the International Criminal Court.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thailand's latest Visa policy reflects much wider economic hopes. A lot of information in that article; go ahead and check out that article for yourself but I am going to quote one sentence literally. Quoting directly: "Thailand does not subscribe to the International Criminal Court's Rome statute as her "signing" has not yet been given "ratification" by Bangkok."
Well, I'm here to say just on a personal level I hope that never comes because I think all of these International bodies and supranational tribunals and things just give me the willies. At the end of the day, I think Thailand can handle her own criminal adjudications, doesn't need any outside interference from any outside tribunal that would operate supranationally in a sense, above Thailand. Meanwhile, at the same time, as we discussed in the context of so-called Pandemic Treaties etc., I am really just kind of very reticent to allow any type of international oversight if you will on Thai national legal policies.
So at the end of the day, in my personal opinion, I think Thailand should seriously consider just not having anything to do with the International Criminal Court.
