Thai Casino Legislation "Not Yet Ready For House Approval"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Casinos here in Thailand; this has been something of a hot button issue recently. Thailand being a tourism oriented locality, the issue of Casinos kind of comes up from time to time but we have never seen a promulgated new law regarding the matter of gambling in Thailand.

That being said, I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Casinos could be limited to 5% of the total space of the complex. Quoting directly: "The Minister said that there were ongoing discussions with Government agencies about the social and environmental impact of Casino resorts, gambling taxes and modernization of laws related to betting. Parliamentary Committees have already given a thumbs up to the idea of Casino resorts, but the details are not yet ready for House approval." Yeah, look I think the way to look at this is one way or the other, we are going to see change to Thai Law regarding gambling here in this jurisdiction. Exactly what that looks like remains to be seen.

I think there's probably something of an attitude among lawmakers regarding gambling, where they are looking at the situation involving Cannabis, where basically the floodgates were opened in the Wild West began with regard to Cannabis, and that has had pros and cons. I don't think lawmakers and officials here in Thailand are particularly interested in the same Wild West mentality or Wild West attitude associated with gambling. So be prepared to see a rather slow process to see law promulgated regarding gambling here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
