The Thai Emergency Decree Ending?

 Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possible end of the Emergency Decree. This video may at first glance may seem a little bit redundant from the video prior to this one that has been put online. I don't think that is the case although I thought of making both of these videos after reading a recent article from the Nation that's nationthailand.com, the article is titled: No CCSA or Extension of Emergency Decree from October 1. Quoting directly: "Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday approved the lifting of the Emergency Decree and dissolution of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on October 1. The Emergency Decree has been extended a total of 19 times since March 24, 2020 with the latest extension ending on September 30th."

I have had some folks ask me "Oh, do you think you are going to like walk this back?" That doesn't seem overly likely I mean especially when they make a pretty rigid announcement although there has been as with everything, it has always kind of nuanced. I have seen some stuff floating around out there in the ether about whether or not this is actually going to end on September 30th or whether it may continue. Let me put it this way. I hope it does end, I think it will. With announcements like this, I think it is safe to sort of presume that. Now that said always kind of keep it in the back of your mind that we have had major reversals in policy notably April '21, October, well no December '21, where major reversals have occurred. We're not really under those same circumstances now although at the time maybe we didn't think we were either or we were in a different situation then we were but okay. Do I really think they're going to reverse this? I think it is unlikely. But with as many times as I have been burned talking about things like “travel bubbles” over the past couple of years and seeing substantial reversal of policy happen pretty quickly, I am not going to say it is outside the realm of possibility but I think for now it is best to be cautiously optimistic. I do think that everybody is operating in good faith; they are wanting to move us along; get the economy back open especially for high season coming up here at the end of 2022 going into 2023.

So yeah I do think honestly it probably will come to an end on October 1. That being said, whatever is certain, in this world not a lot, death and taxes maybe, but as far as the exact date this thing is going to come to an end, I would say it is safe to presume based on the announcements made but let's wait and see and we will kind of hopefully on October 2nd I'll be making a video that says, "Woohoo, that's behind us!"
