A Thai "Immigration Indictment" of Prawit?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing an Immigration indictment. When I originally read this article, and I will get into it here in a moment, that was my first, it just popped in my mind. I was like "what is this? It’s like an immigration indictment?" Let me dig into it here.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Immigration asked for Prawit's travel records. Quoting directly: "Former Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit has asked the Immigration Bureau to release Prawit Wongsuwon's Immigration records in a bid to verify the Palang Pracharat (PPRP) leader’s claim that he was unable to attend many House sessions because he was abroad. Mr. Prompong asked the IB," (that's the Immigration Bureau) to make General Prawit's Immigration clearance records public on Monday, saying he has the right to request such data as a citizen as stated by the Official Information Act. The request came after Gen. Prawit claimed that he was unable to attend many House meetings because he was often overseas on official duty. According to the House of Representatives secretariat, Gen. Prawit failed to attend 84 out of 95 House Meetings convened between July 3rd last year and this month, citing official duties abroad or illness. Quote: "I've obtained information that [Gen. Prawit's absence] may constitute a violation of NACC [that's National Anti-Corruption Commission] regulations," he said." He being Mr. Prompong apparently. As per usual, I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail. A lot of good information in there insofar as providing further clarification on sort of the political side.
I'm talking about this more purely just from the Immigration side. What would you call this? Basically having your Immigration record sort of, in a sense I mean it's kind of akin in my mind to sort of like in the Common Law System what we call the indictment process where you sort of go through preliminary evidence if you will, in order to ascertain if there are any grounds for further inquiry, any grounds for a trial so to speak. Again, it's not a very good apples to apples comparison but it does have kind of a ring to it, Immigration indictment. But yeah apparently Mr. Prawit is under investigation - I think investigation is the wrong word - perhaps an inquiry regarding his Immigration history coming to and from the Kingdom of Thailand. It remains to be seen how exactly this will play out so we will be keeping people updated as necessary on this channel as the situation evolves.
