Thai Prime Minister Removed From Office "Caretaker" Government in Place?

Transcript of the above video:

I'm sure that many of those watching this channel have already probably seen the news regarding the fact that yesterday the Constitutional Court did rule that Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin should be removed from office or I should say they ordered to have him removed from office, and it looks as though he has been removed from office. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Srettha dismissed as PM after court ruling. "The Constitutional Court has found Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin guilty of a gross violation of ethics for appointing ex-convict Pichit Cheunban as a Cabinet Minister. The ruling resulted in Mr. Srettha being dismissed after less than a year in office. The ruling on Wednesday also terminates all positions in the Cabinet but Ministers will stay on in a caretaker capacity with Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai serving as acting Prime Minister until a new premier can be selected by the House of Representatives." And on another note, it my understanding and this is what I have heard anecdotally, I think there are some news reports of this that the House, the Parliament is set to vote on a new Prime Minister some time this week, it looks like Friday. Quoting further: "Mr. Srettha told reporters at Government House that he respected the Court's decision. Quote: "I don't have any authority left," he said. "The authority is now with the caretaker Prime Minister. If Mr. Phumtham is unable to assume the caretaker role, Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit would take over, said Mr. Srettha. The future Administration will determine key," and this is a very cogent or salient point if you will. "The future Administration will determine key government policies including the 10,000-baht digital wallet scheme, the Land Bridge initiative and soft power projects." I'm going to get into other videos on this channel later. Well hopefully we'll have some more done up for later today or at the very least tomorrow; I'm going to get into some analysis. I think this is going to have an impact on Immigration; I think it's going to have an impact on a lot of the initiatives with regard to Immigration and some of the work authorization initiatives that have come up under this Government thus far. Quoting further: "according to the property tycoon turned politician."

The point I want to make with regard to that, for now things are in a sort of holding pattern if you will. The Prime Minister is removed; we now have a caretaker Government again; we've dealt with this before. Very similar to sort of the transitional phase after the polling about this time last year, where we saw the new Government, well we saw the new Government transition in after a caretaker Government following the polling last year. Now we have a situation where we have a Prime Minister removed by the Constitutional Court. We are back under a caretaker Government. Again they may vote in a new PM by the end of the week, so it may just be a very brief interruption and things may move on rather quickly.

Bear in mind though, I think we're going to see a lot of review and revision if you will, possible revision, but I think we are going to see a lot of review and scrutiny of prior policies up to this point so stay tuned because we will certainly keep people updated on this channel as this situation evolves.
