As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing arrest for Work Permit violations. I have noticed some folks being a little bit cavalier about this in discussions, not only in comment sections but places the forums and things, where "you don't really need to worry about that," or "they'll never catch you” and whatever. Yeah look I am not trying to be overly fear mongering about work authorization but it is serious stuff and I have seen a number of clients over the years get into real problems because they didn't have their work authorization in order. Just even a random Police Officer came by an establishment that in this case, one I can think of off the top of my head, that person was running with their wife. They had a Visa they had just a standard Spouse Visa but no Work Permit or anything. The husband was hanging up a picture on the wall and this Thai Police Officer was walking by and came in and asked for the Work Permit. He didn't have a Work Permit; cited him for Work Permit violation. It really cause a lot of problems and really threatened his long-term status. They ended up coming to us, we ultimately found a solution to that, got that sorted out for him. 

Long story short, yeah just because enforcement may not seem omnipresent, it is there and even where you may go for a fairly prolonged period of time without having any interaction with Thai Immigration or any interaction with the Labour Department, I have seen folks get into really serious trouble for not having their Thai Work Permit documentation in order when they are operating here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
