Thais Nationwide "Petition To Keep Weed Legal"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Cannabis yet again. I'm just going to jump in here. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Phuket Cannabis traders petition to keep weed legal. Quoting directly: "Members of the Phuket Cannabis Association have submitted a formal request to not have Cannabis re-classified as a narcotic." And I urge those who are watching this video, go check out the Phuket News; they do a real good job of getting into the detail of that.

I thought it was worth noting this because it's not just occurring up here in Bangkok, this movement is nationwide. There are a lot of people that are really concerned about this so-called U-turn which I am not even sure, as we have discussed in other videos, that there is the legal authority to just unilaterally change this without a Bill going through Parliament but leave that issue for another moment. All I am talking about in this video is yeah it's not just a small subset of Thais that are concerned about this, there is an increasingly large number of Thais that have benefited from this, either in a consumer capacity; there is also an increasingly large number of Thais that are benefiting from this in a business capacity. And quite honestly, especially mom and pop real estate owners here in Thailand that have commercial real estate, they should also probably be at least to some degree favourable toward the overall topic because of the fact that it has an indirectly positive benefit on the commercial real estate sector from the demand to open retail stores to sell this product.

So again, this is a pretty key issue I think at the moment here in Thailand and I think a lot of Thais are pretty adamant about the fact that they would like to see some due process before this is just unilaterally rolled back and all these people's sweat equity, their investments, the time they put into this being disregarded.
