Can I Buy Two Thai Condos and Put Them Together?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, can you buy two Thai condos and put them together. And the answer is probably, depending on circumstances. You may have to get certain kinds of authorization associated with for example consolidating the title deeds, that may prove problematic. The other issue is as a foreigner for those who are unaware, foreign nationals can gain freehold title to condominiums in Thailand notwithstanding the restrictions on foreign nationals owning real estate in Thailand pursuant to the provisions of the Thai Condominium Act. As long as the condo, in this case each individual condo, falls under the provisions of the Act, they are in compliance with the Act, it is possible for the foreign national to hold freehold title.

Now that being said, when you are putting them together that could change things with respect to the overall quota within a given building. It can also have ramifications especially if you have two different types of condo titles. For example you may have a foreign freehold title condo you are trying to put together with a condo that is not under the quota and that can prove to be very complex. We have seen circumstances in the past where people have tried to do that and that can have a substantial legal ramifications if you are trying to do that. Again, it is going to be circumstantially dependent whether or not that other condo is for example owned by a spouse or a loved one or something or if that condo is like held in a Thai Company name. Those things can have a tremendous amount of impact on the overall prospects of being able to make that consolidation.

But long story short, it may be possible to have a Thai Condo or put together two Thai condos in Thailand to create sort of a larger area in which to live.
