Inheritance of Condo Title in Thailand?

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing inheritance of condo title in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on our channel: "Ben, if I buy a condo in Thailand and pay it in full, US citizen, can I leave that condo to a family member and can it stay in my family forever?" So I am presuming yeah okay US citizen, foreign national; yeah, foreign freehold title, it exists and once you have it, it would be under a foreign quota within a given condo juristic person, within a given condo complex. So presumably when inheriting it if a family member, non-Thai presumably, wishes to inherit it then yes they could inherit that and they could inherit it in Freehold.

Now understand, that in order to have the property transferred, the matter would have to go before the Courts in something we would call in the Common Law vernacular the Probate System, Probate Court, but is called succession, Succession System in the Thai Inheritance system. So you have to put it through the Succession System; you have to basically take it through the Courts here; go ahead and have it determined that in fact so and so is the heir and if there is a Will then if it is a designated beneficiary in the Will and they are inheriting that title, then you go ahead and have that approved by the Court and then you have got to go ahead and have that title transferred per the Court's order. 

So again it's not an overall smooth process necessarily. It is probably going to take a little time, I suspect a number of months to go ahead and get everything in order and get all your ducks in a row to get that moved over. But at the end of the day, yeah presumably the Freehold title could move from the foreign decedent over to their beneficiary pursuant to their Will.
