Interaction Between Thai Wills and Wills in Other Jurisdictions?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Wills in the context of Wills in other jurisdictions.

So this will happen somewhat frequently. We will see clients who want to get a Thai Will drafted; they want to go ahead and do estate planning here in Thailand and they will have a Will in another jurisdiction. They will contact us and say, "well do I need a new Will; do I do separate ones? It depends. It depends on the nature of the property in the other jurisdiction; it depends on the factual standing of the person who is either in Thailand or has assets in Thailand or has beneficiaries or concerns in Thailand, that they feel the need to have a Will in Thailand. It's really going to depend on a variety of different factors. Also other jurisdictions may utilize other instruments that may have no sort of analogous counterpart here in Thailand, and for that reason, drafting a Thai Will may have to take into account of that and sort of work around those issues; I discuss that in other videos.

But the thing to take away from this video is especially for assets here in Thailand, most notably things like Condominiums, Bank Accounts, vehicles here in Thailand, a Thai Will is generally speaking - again each situation is different - but generally speaking going to be an optimal instrument for basically setting forth ones wishes regarding bequests and who will be beneficiaries in the event of one's death here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
