As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question "Is there a single template for a Thai Will? As many who watch this channel are probably well aware, I sound like a broken record but yeah, it is just going to depend on circumstances; there is no real template for a Will, that has been my experience.

I also find that it somewhat ironic, the least "template-able" things in law are the ones that people think are most "templated". It is kind of strange, it is like contracts. "Oh, You have got to just have a template contract for this!" Well no you are in a very complex situation, a lot of variables to consider, no we are going to need to draft up something that is very fact specific. Wills are very similar. It is going to vary from person to person; there are going to be people that need a very complex instrument, might need an instrument that interacts with other instruments and then there are going to be some folks where it is relatively straightforward and they look at it and say “wow, it is just a couple of sheets of paper, it kind of looks like a template”. I can tell you honestly, especially when we are dealing with these Thai - English Wills, it is not a template and quite honestly, I am not saying anything about anybody or anything out there in the ether of the internet but folks that are selling templates for Wills and things, look it is just not a great idea. If you want an instrument tailored to your situation that is formalized correctly to ensure that your wishes are maintained in the event of your passing, you really should do it in such a way that it is an instrument specifically drafted for you. A template is oftentimes not going to be the most optimal way of dealing with that scenario.
