As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Wills specifically for the fiancée of a foreigner here in Thailand. I am going to talk about this from the perspective of Americans because that's mostly the context I have seen this in. We deal with a number of Fiancée Visas on a regular basis. Frankly we deal with them so regularly, it's almost a daily occurrence that we are talking to some client who even has a Fiancée Visa or is seeking a Fiancée Visa on behalf of their Thai partner. 

Now the question posed is maybe I want to do some estate planning but I am not yet married to my fiancée. Well that is all the better reason to maybe have a Will. What am I talking about here? Well fiancées, for example if you are seeking a Fiancée Visa to the United States, it may take a number of months for that visa to be issued and for you to travel over to the United States and then get married therein. In the interim, this can be a real problem from the standpoint of for example estate planning because you are not yet married, there's no presumption that that person is your next of kin, that your fiancée is your next of kin and you may have to wait for a Fiancé Visa because in your situation, that may be the most advantageous Visa under the circumstances. 

So again if it may put you in a precarious position vis a vis your partner because you want to make sure that person is protected in terms of an estate planning standpoint. It's probably a good idea to go ahead and have a Will of some kind to go ahead and stipulate what that person gets, especially in the meantime while you are waiting out the processing of a K-1 Fiancée Visa to the United States from here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
