BREAKING: Clashes Resume on Thai-Cambodian Border?

Transcript of the above video:

This is rather breaking news; this looks like it's coming down right now as we speak as of the time of this video that there are further clashes breaking out along the border. Now from what I'm hearing, and I'll get into my citations, it appears that Cambodia seemed to, the reports are that munitions were launched against Thais and then there was a reaction to that, so let's just dig in.

I initially found this or I initially saw this on X for this so I'm going to quote X because credit where credit is due. I go where I found the original information, quoting directly, this is under Visegrád 24: Border clashes erupt between Thailand and Cambodia. Quoting directly: "Thailand has raised its military alert level in four regions bordering Cambodia after ordering civilians to evacuate several frontier towns amid escalating cross-border clashes. The confrontation unfolded in the Sisaket province where Thai Authorities say Cambodian troops opened fire first. According to Thailand's Defense Ministry, two Thai soldiers were injured during the firefight in Kantharalak District. Sgt. Anuchat was shot in the leg, while Pvt. Phonchai Champajum suffered chest pain and bruising after a round struck his body armour." Wow, I mean, WOW. Quoting further: "Both were transported to Kantharalak Hospital. The 2nd Army Region later confirmed they were in stable condition, though Champajum continued experiencing chest tightness. Thai military sources report the movement of Cambodian tanks and heavy vehicles along the border, raising fears of a broader escalation. The Thai outlet Tan Krasae reported that Cambodian forces fired grenade launches at Thai positions. Thailand has since carried out retaliatory strikes."

Now going over here to, I believe this is somebody over in Cambodia and they are talking about, I'll throw this up on screen, it's from Neth Pheaktra that's pheaktraneth, on X: Her Excellency Lieutenant General Socheata, Under Secretary of State and the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defense, would like to inform the general public, as well as national and international media outlets, about the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border." I am just going to leave that but the important thing was somebody actually asked grok, they just said underneath that it says, Sunny, somebody named Sunny, “what's happening grok?: and then grok responded with, quoting directly: "Tensions at the Cambodia-Thailand border escalated on December 8, 2025. Cambodia accuses Thai forces of unprovoked attacks near Preah Vihear, including tank fire, despite an October 2025 peace accord. Thailand claims Cambodian rockets hit their positions first, prompting F-16 airstrikes. Casualties reported; evacuations on going. Both sides blame each other for violating the ceasefire. Sources: Reuters, CNN, Al Jazeera. Well, considering the sources I'd like to know where people were who were saying this stuff.

Meanwhile, going over here again on X, @ MarioNawfal, quoting directly: Thailand Retaliates Against Cambodia with F-16 Strikes After Two Dead, Four Wounded in Artillery Hell. Quoting directly: "Royal Thai F-16s unleashed air strikes on Cambodian artillery and command posts in Oddar Meanchey Province. "They are retaliating for grenade and rocket barrages that kill 2 Thai soldiers and wounded 4 in Ubon Ratchathani. Clashes raged 30 + minutes near Phu Pha Lek, with border sealed and 385,000 + Thais evacuated, echoing July's 48 death bloodbath." They are talking about the 48 people we lost back in July here in Thailand during the violence that erupted at the border at that time. Quoting further: "Cambodia claims Thai provocation; Bangkok blames Phnom Penh's mines. Trump's October truce, brokered post-July war (300K displaced), hangs by a thread, risking ASEAN implosion and U.S. pullout from bases."

I, can we tone back the hyperbole. ASEAN implosion? An implosion of what? ASEAN is sort of like a talking shop, it's not the Holy Roman Empire, so what are you talking about “implosion?” Meanwhile, US pullout from bases? Where, and why? What?

Look, adding to this or trying to create some kind of like conflagration that pulls in others, I don't know that that's helping anything. That said, quoting further: "With $10 billion in trade at stake and nukes lurking", - $10 billion in trade on the Thai-Khmer border? Really? I mean I'm not sure that that's there. Quoting further: "and nukes lurking" - nukes? what? Who's talking about nukes? Quoting further: "One stray shell could drag India/China in, turning Southeast Asia's powder keg into global fire." Well if India and China want to learn the lessons that Uncle Sam learned in Vietnam, I guess they can, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to want to do that. I don't know what people are talking about, about nukes or $10 billion; I would love, I'm sure a lot of Thais and Khmers along that border would like to know where that $10 billion is. I love that part in Forrest Gump where he says, “it was a million-dollar wound, but the Army must keep that money because I never saw a nickel of that million dollars.” This 10 billion dollars; what are we talking about? “Nukes lurking” - I don't think so. And Indian and China coming in? To what?

Look, at the end of the day this is what it has always been. It is a bilateral disagreement between two neighbouring, sovereign countries and they are going to work it out; it's just going to get worked out bilaterally. And what can I say other than that.

At the end of the day, this violence, nobody wants it, I definitely don't like the idea of 300,000+ Thais being displaced yet again/ I don't like the idea of any violence occurring along that border. That being said, Thailand does have to maintain her sovereignty, and she has to defend herself so I completely understand the need to do that. That being said, again hyperbole probably isn't helping very much and the, just trying to look here to see if there's anything more I need to sort of note before we sort of close this out because this is this is pretty breaking news as far as it goes. But yeah, that said, yeah there has been further action up along the border. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail, and we will see a situation where the Joint Border Committee can at least get together and broker some kind of temporary cease fire that we can hopefully get to the point where it will be a little bit more permanent. That being said, it remains to be seen how any of this is going to play out so we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
