Electronic Consular Reports of Birth Abroad?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possibility of an Electronic Consular Report of Birth Abroad. I was recently doing a bit of research, actually looking for a photo to make one of the prior videos we made regarding Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and it came up. I was unaware of this. Changes happen. I miss things and it looks like it is possible to now do an Electronic Consular Report of Birth Abroad sometimes referred to as a CRBA, C-R-B-A but there's now an eCRBA an e-C-R-B-A.

Quoting from th.usembassy.gov, quoting directly: "eCRBA, Electronic Consular Report of Birth Abroad. The e-CRBA is the Department of State's new online application for a CRBA." For those who are unaware, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad is much like a Birth Certificate for an American born here in Thailand. You will get a standard Thai Birth Certificate. Then you'll also be able to go to the Embassy and get a Consular Report of Birth Abroad that operates as if it were a Birth Certificate for purposes of use with the United States Government. Quoting further: "a CRBA that allows eligible U.S. citizen parents to complete an online application, upload all required documents, and submit payment prior to the in-person interview. eCRBA does not require any new information or processes - applicants enter the same information in the eCRBA as in the paper application." Yeah, this is actually one of those where - I'm usually kind of cynical about stuff in the bureaucracy that goes digital - but this is actually one of those where I'm actually kind of positive about it. This could be done digitized and actually improve the system and I think it ultimately will.

That being said, those who feel a little bit overwhelmed by the entire process of dealing with a newborn American child here in the Kingdom of Thailand, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
