Immigration Watch List for Those Leaving Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Immigration and in a recent article from thaivisa.com, that article was titled Big Oud: Immigration Chief's Activity Starting to Draw Comparison with Big Joke.  There is a lot in that article and I am just going to quote from the final sentence in the article.  Those who are interested I suggest you go over to Thai Visa and look that article up. Big Oud: Immigration Chief's Activities Starting to Draw Comparisons with Big Joke.

Quoting directly:  "Big Oud was asked by the press about to Thai women called Dear and Naya who are wanted in Thailand for computer fraud. He said that the pair are on a watch list to ensure that they do not leave Thailand.” Let me state that again, "He said that the pair are on a watch list to ensure that they do not leave Thailand". I wanted to bring this up because "Yes, that pertains or it seems to pertain specifically to Thai Nationals who are looking to leave in order to abscond from some sort of criminal citation or criminal warrant. That being stated, I thought it was a telling remark because as we have noted in prior videos, Immigration enforcement capabilities have increased exponentially in the past couple of years. They have become more sophisticated. Their technological prowess has increased substantially, most notably in terms of things like biometric technology and their ability to find people who are overstaying, their ability to round up working illegally etc.

So, the thing I am trying to get across with respect to this video is, I think moving forward those who have for example criminal problems in the Kingdom, issues associated with maybe even civil problems, just general problems in Thailand I think it is very possible, even for foreigners, that they could have issues trying to get out of the country legally whereas before, frankly in the analog system, especially the paper system, you might have a situation where it was something out of like the movie Butch Cassidy And the Sundance Kid; you just have got to get over the Border and you are gone. I don't mean to make light of this but there was a time when it was a much less sophisticated system and so I think a lot of people sort of seeped through the cracks. The Thai Immigration system now, especially in light of the fact that they are rounding up so many people on overstay, so many people with invalid travel documentation simply based on biometrics is very telling and I think it is very likely in the future that we may see situations where there are in fact foreign criminals for example who are being apprehended trying to leave the Kingdom probably due to things like biometrics which can find folks who are trying to abscond and escape liability.
