A Major Pitfall of "Buying" a Second Passport?

Transcript of me about video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well at the end of the day we are discussing whether or not it is a great idea to buy a second passport. Buying a second passport has been one of these things that I am not against, I can see the circumstances. Look I'm a dual national; I became Thai almost 7 years ago. There are benefits to it, don't get me wrong - having two passports - there are benefits to it, obviously.

That said, I think that there's been a movement especially in the last five years where we have seen all these quite frankly, clowns, enter the  International Immigration space talking about things in my opinion they have no business talking about; they don't have the depth of knowledge to understand - they don't know what they don't know is my biggest problem with a lot of these bucket shops that get out there saying that they sell second nationalities, etc., etc.

The point I am trying to make with this video is just be careful at the outset with dealing with "Citizenship by Investment", to begin with. Meanwhile though, there's more to it and it goes deeper. There was a time where I think there was, call it peak optimal performance of a "purchased" if you will or "citizenship by investment", whatever; you invested money and you got a passport out of it. There was a time when that was optimal. Post-Covid, ain't that time. What am I talking about?

Well, what we saw with COVID is effectively your passport became worthless. In fact, the US Passport became worthless overnight in terms of its ability to automatically gain entrance all these different countries because the World Health Organization and COVID and all these countries - my opinion in their hysteria or in their desire to try to enact some kind of totalitarian coup on the world - basically implemented this stuff and effectively your passport became kind of an irrelevance at that point. In fact, when they tried to come out with “vaccine passports” and things, in essence that effectively became your travel document. That said, it remains a travel document and I get it, but there are scenarios, I just think people view it as almost a magic bullet and it's really not.

An example of this, I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Bangkok Airport Immigration speed and security to the fore. Quoting directly: "We must also watch their behaviour and investigate their nationality or passport. For example, someone with a Chinese appearance using a Vanuatu passport will be closely monitored." Yeah, I don't blame Thai Immigration for taking that position. Meanwhile, it goes on in that article, and I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article for more detail, they actually say in there they were like "look, we need to scrutinize these people who are on these passports”, and look I am sure there is a list out there amongst various Immigration Authorities throughout the world, of the countries where they know yes, this is where they issue second nationality. And look when you have second nationality, especially a nationality that may not resemble you in terms of physical appearance, I have this issue all the time when I go to Cambodia. Every time I go to Cambodia on my Thai passport, they always pull me over into secondary inspection. I don't blame them. Look at me. I am a 6'4’ white guy with blonde hair and I show up with a Thai passport. Yeah, that deserves an extra minute of scrutiny, I get it.

The point I'm trying to make with this video is again, the second passport is not a magic bullet. In fact in the past, we've seen scenarios, especially involving passports from Naru and Seychelles some years ago where especially Russians were traveling all over using Seychelles passports and effectively the passport became very difficult to use, if not impossible to use or impractical to use. As a practical matter, it just wasn't worth it. There was no utility to it. And again, this is another thing to think about. It's a pitfall with second nationality. Some of them can be useful, but again it's not a magic bullet.
